Principal's Message

Hello and welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!

It has already been a great start to the year, and we are looking forward to our continued partnership with our families and greater community. Here at Northwood, our mission is high level learning in a caring environment. Each and every day we strive to ensure each one of our students are welcomed by name, and are supported and challenged to reach their highest potential through highly engaging content.

Two goals this year are to increase our opportunities for students to be actively involved in school through leadership opportunities and extracurricular opportunities and to increase our family engagement at school.

Through leadership opportunities, our students previously advocated for a buddy bench at recess to ensure everyone has someone to play with, and thanks to our incredible PTA, we now have a new buddy bench to start out the year. Feedback from our students is integral in all of our classrooms. Every teacher at Northwood asks students regularly what is supporting their learning and what could help.

We also ask for constructive feedback from our families and community and through that feedback make adjustments to what we do.

One such forum is our Parent Roundtable, which is a representative group of parents who meet with Northwood administrators throughout the year and provide input for improvement. As a result of that input, we have increased clarity in communication about student learning from classrooms.

Additionally, through partnership with local authorities and our district, we have developed a much improved parent pick-up and drop-off routine that has significantly improved our efficiency and reduced impacts on local streets.

At Northwood, we are all learners, leaders, and collaborators—students AND adults! Thank you, Northwood community, for the opportunity to continue to serve and support you. We truly are better together.
